Two years ago to (somewhere around) this day, Forty, Irmie and Savi said they'd had enough of drama and decided to build their own group of people they enjoyed playing with. Savi man-handled Ehman into signing the new guild charter and the four of us poured over the guild tabard design for at least 3 minutes of hard thought.
Irmie had been farming
in order to pay for the guild start up and bank tabs. I think guild banks had just come out recently at that point and were fairly new. We were all in our late 40's for levels and still poor. Gold meant something back in our day you young whippersnappers.
We were happy to be a little merry band, and casually kept our eyes open for people we enjoyed playing with. Chorty was the first one to fall victim to our recruitment efforts. I can't remember if we even had the interview questions and such at that time. I'm pretty sure we did for our second recruits - Yobo and Santo. Yobo was lvl 70 at the time and we were not. There was much talk in private tells saying 'he's lvl 70. He'll get bored, what will we do for him? How can we keep our only end game guy happy?'. Then we saw Yobo setting fire to huts out in Zoram Strand and figured he was making his own fun.
In the early days we had a guild house, located in Org, and it came with a cleaning lady/guard. We had a couple 'guild meetings' in there before we got too big to fit all the smelly bodies in one room.
Since our early days, we've seen a lot of people seeking out the same type of guild we wanted. Low drama, fun people who actually say hello to you when you log in, real life first, and some joking and friendly times. We've done our best as we've grown into a larger guild and a guild that participates in raids, to ensure we've stuck to those values. I think we are doing a hell of a job. The bumps and mistakes along the way were learning events for us and we continue to grow and evolve.
It has been my sincere pleasure getting to know many people (some no longer with the guild, but remembered fondly) and a real blast to have our merry band of scrubs stick together for this long. I'm proud to call all of you my mates and friends.
I raise my cup (of tea) in toast to you all, and wish us all another happy year together!
